Banjos, the junior section of the main Operatic Society, is open to children aged 9-13 (rising to 9). They meet on Thursday evenings from 6.30 to 8.30pm at the Banstead Institute Hall, Banstead High Street , and are taught one hour of singing and one hour of drama and dance. There is a professionally qualified tutor for each section.
The year comprises three terms of approx ten weeks each: one term for musical-theatre workshops, two terms preparing and performing a show. There is also the opportunity to perform with the adult Society in shows requiring youngsters, for example, a pantomime.
Banjos is supported by the main Society but is self-financing, so fees are paid for attendance.
