Banstead Art Group has been meeting since 1947. It was formed by an enthusiastic group of local artists who got together after the war to share their common interest in painting and drawing. They are still a friendly and informal group of about 50 members who paint and draw in all media.
They meet once a month in the Banstead Community Hall, where they invite an established artist to discuss and give constructive criticism and encouragement of members' most recent work. This meeting is also an opportunity to meet with other members to share thoughts, views and to discuss other painting related subjects. Activities include talks, workshops and demonstrations by professional artists, a painting day at a local beauty spot and an annual painting holiday.
The Group organises a public exhibition of members' work at least once a year where visitors can enjoy and purchase their work. In July they also have a stand at the Banstead Village Day, where they show a small variety of paintings and cards.
The group would welcome Artists interested in joining to submit four to six of their paintings at one of their monthly meetings. The Committee would then decide whether they are able to offer full or associate membership.
