Cantamus Reigate

Cantamus Reigate is an ad hoc choir, fixed separately for each concert, which aims to perform to a high standard but on few rehearsals. Singers are therefore expected either to be competent readers or to know the pieces sufficiently well to be able to cope without lengthy note-bashing sessions.

Concerts are usually arranged two or three times a year and for each one the choir rehearses on different weekday evenings and at weekends so people can avoid missing regular commitments. The choir’s main purposes are to have fun by performing worthwhile music well, and to share their enjoyment with their audience, to provide a platform for other musicians and to encourage younger singers to enjoy the experience of choral singing with adults.

The aim is to cover costs, but any surplus is donated to a charity chosen by the Director. Adult singers are asked for a contribution of £15 for each concert in which they take part.
