ORBIT Shed was established by the world famous Chickenshed in 2004. The aims of the charity are to advance education in the performing arts in the Borough, in particular but not exclusively targeting young people who are from a disadvantaged background, ethnic minority group or who have a special need.
All children are welcome. They will not only learn performing arts but also will learn teamwork. Their self-confidence and self-esteem will also increase when they see what they can achieve. The productions that are put on belong to the children and young people, they are the ones who come up with the ideas of what they would like to do, or how they are going to perform a particular piece of drama.
The sessions are run by Chickenshed trained workshop leaders and volunteer practitioners, and they are always looking for volunteers to help run the workshops. ORBIT Shed hold sessions during term time, at St Luke's Church, Church Road, South Park, Reigate on Tuesday evenings. There are three sessions each Tuesday between 4.15pm and 8.45pm for children aged 4-7, 7-11 and 11-17. They try to give a public performance at least once a year.
