Oxted & Limpsfield Music Society

The society was formed in 1946 with the express objective of bringing music of the highest standard to the area at reasonable prices. We engage artists of international repute as well as providing a concert platform to encourage younger musicians on the cusp of their professional careers.

Over the years the society has brought a wonderful array of artists to its audiences including Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears, Andras Schiff, the Amadeus Quartet, John Lill, Roderick Williams and Stephen Hough. The range of music covers solo recitals, chamber music concerts, song cycles and jazz events. We have been fortunate to have had the help and advice of distinguished presidents including currently, the internationally acclaimed pianist, Imogen Cooper CBE.

The group promotes five concerts every season between October and May, and usually has a couple of additional events as well. Concerts are held in the Bawtree Concert Hall, a marvellous new venue with superb acoustics and modern facilities, set in the grounds of Hazelwood School. Concerts are open to all. Membership is not required, but a significant saving may be made by subscribing to a season ticket which guarantees entry to the five concerts.
