The Reigate and Banstead Twinning Association is responsible for the Borough's town twinning links with the town of Eschweiler in the German Rhineland and with Brunoy, south of Paris in France. There is an active membership made up of individuals, families, clubs, societies and companies, who pay a small annual subscription.
The Association organises fund-raising social events and
activities in the Borough and publishes a quarterly newsletter. Two sub-committees - one for Brunoy and one for Eschweiler - arrange regular visits to the twin towns, where members stay with host families in or near the town and take part in organised and more informal activities (such as municipal receptions, visits to vineyards and other local sites and the annual Eschweiler Karneval).
Many local groups have established twinning links with their opposite numbers in Eschweiler and/or Brunoy. The list also includes other cultural societies, educational establishments and sports and leisure groups.
The Association acts as the focal point for all such visits and exchanges between clubs, schools and other groups by giving advice and support and encouraging new links.
